Matthew Perry reportedly met Brooke Mueller in rehab “a couple times” — but their relationship extended outside the confines of their treatment center.
Mueller recently found herself embroiled in the investigation into Perry’s October 2023 death from ketamine and, according to Us Weekly, the actress and the “Friends” star often exchanged names of physicians with access to certain prescriptions.
“On and off for years Matthew and Brooke had been trading information on doctors. And it was implied they were more liberal than others when it came to meds,” a source told the magazine Wednesday.
The insider claimed Mueller “would give him names to potentially questionable doctors,” noting that she was nothing more than a “pawn” to Perry.
“Typically, Matthew was the one to reach out to her, not the other way around. It was a random text and FaceTime,” the source further alleged.
Although Perry and Mueller’s relationship was friendly, they “didn’t go to dinner or hang out,” according to the report.
“Matthew was a friend who would ask her for favors. And Matthew was relentless. That’s what an addict is,” the insider added.
While people in Perry’s life “tried to prevent him from reaching out” to Mueller, per the outlet, he was “isolated” from his loved ones leading up to his death.
Reps for Mueller declined to comment.
The beloved sitcom star was found dead in his jacuzzi last year. An autopsy report revealed he died from the “acute effects of ketamine,” amongst other things, and listed the manner of death as accidental.
Earlier this month, federal agents arrested and charged five people in connection to Perry’s death: two doctors, his personal assistant, a drug dealer known as the “Ketamine Queen” and a male acquaintance.
Perry’s assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, had been tasked with finding him ketamine and came into contact with Drs. Salvador Plasencia and Mark Chavez.
The two medical practitioners drastically up-charged Perry for the drugs, making $55,000 off him in just one month, according to officials.
“I wonder how much this moron will pay,” Plasencia once texted Chavez, per court documents.
Plasencia even taught Iwamasa how to inject the drugs into Perry — despite knowing about the actor’s long history with addiction and medical conditions.
Police also issued a warrant to search Mueller’s home while she was in rehab seeking treatment for her substance abuse issues. They ended up seizing her computer and phone.
Although they questioned Mueller about her relationship with Perry, she was never charged with any crime or accused of any wrongdoing.
Despite the ongoing legal investigation, Mueller celebrated her 47th birthday alongside her family earlier this week.
She posed for photos with her mom, Moira Fiore, and stepfather, Jon Fiore — who hosted the event at their Beverly Hills home — and her rarely seen twin sons, Bob and Max, 15.
Mueller shares the teens with her ex-husband, Charlie Sheen, who did not attend the party. The former couple was married from 2008 to 2011.
