Sabrina Carpenter and Christina Aguilera teased a new collaboration on TikTok Wednesday — just one week after fellow pop princess Britney Spears seemingly shaded the former’s 2024 MTV VMAs performance.
In the brief clip Aguilera shared, Carpenter used an audio clip from an episode of “The Kardashians” as she referred to Aguilera as her “mom” saying she’s “obsessed” with her.
“I’m obsessed with my mom,” Carpenter lip-synced, echoing Kylie Jenner’s words as she described her relationship with her famous mom, Kris. The sound goes on to play, “I am her favorite. We actually have a relationship like she has no other kids.”
The “Taste” singer reposted the video to her Instagram Stories with the caption: “I don’t think you understand, I’m obsessed.”
The 25-year-old singer will be joining Aguilera as she celebrates the 25th anniversary of her eponymous debut album in a special episode of “Spotify Anniversaries.”
The episode, which will also include an appearance from MGK, is scheduled to be released on Sept. 25.
“I wanted to celebrate the 25th anniversary of my debut album in a way that brings together the past and present,” Aguilera explained to Rolling Stone.
“I’ve always enjoyed reimagining my songs with different styles and audiences, as well as playing with sounds and arrangements that showcase how all music can be timeless.”
In an August interview with Paper Magazine, Carpenter revealed she’s been a longtime fan of the singer, calling her “one of my very first idols and icons.”
“I was 11 years old and you couldn’t get her name out of my mouth,” she told the outlet. “She’s very special to me. Those songs raised me.”
Last week, Spears — who was once famously involved in a years-long feud with the “Genie in a Bottle” singer — dissed Carpenter’s interstellar performance at this year’s Video Music Awards after she kissed an alien backup dancer onstage.
“I didn’t understand that part,” the Grammy winner, who notably shared a kiss with Madonna at the 2003 VMAs, added before asking, “Why didn’t she kiss a girl? That was weird.”
However, Spears also said she does “adore” the “Girl Meets World” alum and loves her “to death” in the Instagram video.
